Retainers

After your braces are removed, the retention stage of your treatment plan begins. During the first phase of retention, we typically require patients to wear their retainers 24/7 for about three months.

The second phase requires patients to only wear their retainers at night. The length of time you will be required to wear your retainers may not be the same as other patients, though. There are several factors that influence how long you will need to wear them, including age, heredity, wisdom teeth and difficulty of case.

Because the final appearance of your smile depends on your retainers, it is important that you follow the instructions you are given about wearing them and taking care of them.
